C.A.R.E. Awards

The C.A.R.E. Awards will be presented to the recipients at the Claire’s Day 2012 children’s book festival on Saturday, May 19.

Claire’s Day is a celebration of the life of Claire Lynsey Rubini and her love of reading.  The day-long event includes children’s authors, illustrators, and a variety of hands-on activities.  C.A.R.E. Awards (Claire’s Award for Reading Excellence) are presented to students from throughout the Greater Toledo area who have shown great improvement in their reading during the past school year.  We encourage you to bring your child to enjoy the day and receive a recognition certificate and special award.  Some important details:

1.  Claire’s Day is May 19, 2012 at the Maumee Library, 501 River Road, Maumee, OH.

2.  There are five award ceremonies. (We try to keep students from the same district together but if you need to come at a different time, e-mail or call the number below.)

3.  C.A.R.E. Awards Schedule:

  • 10:00 C.A.R.E. Awards presented to students from Perrysburg, ESC, Lake Local, Springfield,  and Swanton schools
  • 11:00 C.A.R.E. Awards presented to students from Maumee and Rossford schools
  • 1:00 C.A.R.E. Awards presented to students from Maumee
    Valley Country Day School, Bowling Green schools, the Toledo Diocese, and Community schools
  • 2:00 C.A.R.E. Awards presented to students from Toledo Public, Anthony Wayne, and Genoa Schools
  • 3:00 C.A.R.E. Awards presented to students Northwood, Oregon, Sylvania, Defiance, Ottawa Hills, and Washington Local Schools

4.  Students should arrive one hour before their scheduled ceremony.  When they arrive, they must check in at the information booth.  Please be at the C.A.R.E. Awards tent about 15 minutes before the ceremony. Bring your family and enjoy all that Claire’s Day has to offer – authors, music, storytellers, and hands-on activities.

5.  Each nominated student will receive a certificate of recognition and a special award, courtesy of Barnes & Noble and Savage & Associates.  In order to receive the special award, students must be present at the ceremony.

6. Parents, siblings, family, teachers, and principals can all attend the ceremony.  Although this is an award ceremony, we are outside and casual dress is appropriate.
